General FAQ’s

Drayage is the short-haul move of an ocean or intermodal container between a port/rail ramp and a warehouse, DC, cross-dock, or transload facility. The gate move, appointment, and timing (free time) are often the critical factors.

Demurrage is charged by the terminal/steamship line when a container sits past free time at the port. Detention is charged when the container/chassis is held outside allowed free time. Planning pickups and appointments helps prevent both.

At minimum: port/terminal (or rail ramp), container size, delivery ZIP, and desired pickup/delivery dates. If available, include container number, booking/reference, and last free day.

Yes. We coordinate terminal and receiver appointments when required and communicate pickup/delivery windows before dispatch.

We provide proactive status updates and ETAs. Tracking methods vary by lane and equipment; request visibility requirements when you book.

Common causes include terminal congestion, equipment/chassis availability, holds, appointment shortages, and receiver appointment constraints. We communicate exceptions early so you can make decisions fast.
